![]() The actions at Destiny's Crossroads in FF7R created an alt universe/split timeline, so we now have the main timeline which continues to (broadly) follow FF7, and an alt timeline where Zack and a mako-poisoned Cloud are in a world where everyone else died (thus the dead bodies of the gang on the expresssway in the first trailer). And this remains my prediction for this game (and the next): Or to venture into concern-trolling territory.įor me, this has always been the thing. But I'd rather choose to hope that they'll pull this off in a decent manner, than to preemptively gripe myself to dislike. This entire endeavour is making the MCU look like a third grade local theme park and is - at least to my knowledge - entirely unprecedented as a multimedia project.ĭo they have to pull some eyes-rolling stuff to make any of this coherent? Of course they do. All the while and without fear incorporating all the insane extended lore. What is amazing about the FF7 remake trilogy is that they do something entirely new while simultaneously recreating an old thing. trying to defeat the notion of everything having to stay the way we remember it from 20 years ago? As if they wanted to flip the finger on all the purist otakus. defeating the Harbinger of Fate is Nojima et al. Reading some of the replies in this thread, I do wonder if some people never realised that the whole whispers gimmick is a social commentary on people simultaneously demanding a Remake but that it'd be a 1:1 translation? That Cloud et al. Don't look as murky and gloomy as the rest of the area under the Shinra Mansion. Something's odd about the area outside of his vault. Little details like that go a long way.ĭon't know what's up with the scene where the crew meet Vincent. It looks like how I dreamed it would, from what we've seen.Īlso love the area with the wrecked pirate ships. And quite frankly, the retcons aren't of value enough for me to rally for them.īut hey, Rebirth's Gold Saucer looks pretty rad!!! I'm. Everything in the Compilation is dumb (to me) and doesn't add to the original game in a beneficial way (imo), as well as contradicts certain things (sometimes more than one time, such as the different depictions of how the Nibleheim Disaster went down via Last Order and Crisis Core). Pretty, and I didn't mind the combat, but a lot of the "new" concepts such as the Whispers and Fate, timelines, and shit, to me, is all dumb. I might have some interest in FFVII Rebirth regarding the areas shown and because I'm a fan of the original (my second favorite FF of all-time), but I don't expect the concepts to be good. He's really bad at adding to existing worlds. I will die on the hill that Nojima is great at coming up with new concepts for a new installment/original FF world. Where Nojima goes manages to both tread old ground as well as introduce shit we really never needed to know. Sin is back somehow, Tidus exploded, and there are "Old Gods of Spira" and Summoner sex magic that makes Final Summons even more powerful.
